Description

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The primary objective of this consultancy is to professionally document the project's multifaceted activities, demonstrable impact, and inspiring success stories through the creation of high-quality photos, engaging videos, and compelling short documentary-style videos. These visual assets will be tailored for distribution across a diverse range of communication channels, including social media platforms, project websites, formal reports, and impactful presentations. The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive and easily navigable database of all visual assets, ensuring their long-term accessibility and usability. Furthermore, the consultant will produce engaging and informative video content that effectively highlights the project's significant achievements, showcases the positive experiences of its beneficiaries, and clearly articulates its overall contribution to the advancement of climate-smart agriculture in El Salvador.

SCOPE OF WORK
Working in close coordination with the GGGI Communications Senior Assistant, the Project Manager, and other designated GGGI project staff, the Consultant will be responsible for the following key tasks:
Photography and Videography: Capture compelling visual content that effectively showcases the project's interventions. This includes documenting the practical implementation of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices, the use of ICT systems (e.g., the SIAM-MAG app, early warning systems), the operation and maintenance of agrometeorological stations, and the development and strengthening of farmer organizations.
Produce high-quality, professional photographs and video footage of diverse project activities, including stakeholder engagement workshops, capacity building sessions, business development support activities, the practical implementation of CSA systems, activities related to agrometeorological stations (including construction, refurbishment, and equipment installation), beneficiary testimonials (individual and group), field visits to project sites, and interviews with beneficiaries, project stakeholders, and related experts.
Ensure all captured media is technically excellent, visually appealing, and tells a compelling story. The focus should be on capturing authentic moments and showcasing the project's positive outcomes, particularly its impact on women, youth, the environment, and local communities.
Prioritize diversity in composition and subject matter, capturing both the technical aspects of the project and its human element.
Capture footage from various formats and angles to ensure suitability for diverse video outputs.
Video Production: Produce documentary-style videos suitable for dissemination on social media platforms, project websites, and presentations to diverse audiences. These videos should tell compelling, human-centered stories about the project's impact, highlighting the voices and experiences of beneficiaries and showcasing the project's achievements, challenges encountered, and valuable lessons learned. The videos should be professionally edited with appropriate music, visually appealing graphics, clear titles, and accurate subtitles (in Spanish and optionally English) to ensure accessibility and broaden their reach. The consultant will be expected to present detailed storyboards or shot lists for review and approval by GGGI before video production commences, ensuring alignment with project objectives and communication strategy.
Database Management: Create and maintain a well-organized, easily searchable, and readily accessible database of all photos and videos produced during the consultancy. This database should include detailed descriptions of each asset, relevant keywords for easy searching, accurate dates and locations of capture, and names of individuals featured (with their explicit consent obtained prior to inclusion). The database should be delivered in a standard and widely compatible format (e.g., Excel spreadsheet, cloud-based storage solution like Google Drive or Dropbox). Consider tagging photos and videos by specific project activity, geographic location, and beneficiary group to facilitate efficient retrieval and utilization of the assets.
Travel: Travel to various project sites across El Salvador as needed to fulfill the requirements of the consultancy. This travel may involve working under varying field conditions and adhering to flexible schedules. Preference will be given to a consultant residing in or near San Miguel, El Salvador, to minimize travel costs and time, but highly qualified candidates from other locations within El Salvador are encouraged to apply. The consultant will be responsible for arranging their own transportation and accommodation, ensuring cost-effectiveness and logistical efficiency.
Copyright and Usage Rights: All photos and videos produced under this consultancy will be the exclusive property of GGGI. The consultant will grant GGGI full, unrestricted, and perpetual usage rights for all deliverables, allowing GGGI to utilize the materials for any purpose deemed appropriate, including but not limited to communication, advocacy, education, and fundraising.
Regular Fieldwork: Upon the commencement of the contract, the consultant is expected to work on site in San Miguel and Usulután 1-2 times a week to ensure consistent photo and video coverage of project activities related to farmer organizations. These activities may include interviews with beneficiaries, technical assistance activities provided at productive units, capacity building programs (training sessions), project events, and workshops. The consultant will always be accompanied by GGGI staff. Prior communication with GGGI project staff will be maintained to schedule the specific day and time necessary for fieldwork each week, ensuring optimal coordination and efficient use of resources.
Activities on Early Warning Systems: Similarly, upon contract commencement, the consultant is expected to visit intervened agrometeorological stations 1-2 times a week to document activities related to early warning systems. This may include photo and video coverage of the construction or refurbishment of agrometeorological stations, the installation of sophisticated agrometeorological equipment, interviews with government counterparts, recognized experts, and key stakeholders involved in the early warning system initiatives, as well as project events and workshops focused on this critical component. The consultant will always be accompanied by GGGI staff. Prior communication with GGGI project staff will be maintained to schedule the specific day and time necessary for fieldwork each week, ensuring optimal coordination and efficient use of resources.
Progress Monitoring Meetings: The Consultant will hold progress monitoring meetings (weekly or bi-weekly) with GGGI staff to discuss progress against the work plan, address any challenges, and ensure alignment with project objectives. These meetings will provide an opportunity to review completed tasks, plan for upcoming activities, and maintain open communication throughout the consultancy.
