UNICEF has been present in Argentina since May 1985, providing technical cooperation and financial assistance to the State and Argentine society in different areas related to the well-being of children and adolescents. UNICEF Argentina works to promote the protection of the rights of children and adolescents, to help meet their most important needs and increase the opportunities offered to them, so that they reach the full development of their capacities. The work of UNICEF Argentina is carried out in full respect of cultural diversity and with a focus on gender equality, combining efforts and wills to protect the rights of children and adolescents, together with allies and national counterparts of both the State and society civil society, international cooperation and agencies of the United Nations system. The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and all human rights treaties ratified by Argentina, as well as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), form the global framework of cooperation of UNICEF Argentina.
