Save the Children-Swaziland (SC-SWD) is a Non-Governmental Organization, which exists, to ensure that children’s rights are made a reality within the Swazi context as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter. The organization came to existence in the early 1960s as a school feeding and sponsorship program. By the late 1990s SC-SWD repositioned its work to focus on Child Protection as its core function. SC-SWD is a member of the national umbrella body called Coordinating Assembly of Non-Governmental Organisations (CANGO). The organization is also a member of Save the Children International, the world’s largest global movement for children, which has operational programs in over 130 countries.
