WWF Hungary is the domestic organization of the international foundation, which started its operation in 1991. The non-governmental organization, which operates as a non-profit foundation, works in accordance with international nature conservation efforts, but pursues objectives defined on the basis of domestic needs.
The nature of conservation work covers the protection of wetlands, especially river and floodplain systems, and our natural forests, sustainable, environmentally friendly agriculture and rural development, and the protection of protected and endangered habitats and species. In addition, we pay great attention to reducing the effects of climate change and disseminating the idea of environmental awareness as widely as possible.
In the protection of the Hungarian natural values, they focus on four extremely important areas:
Climate change and energy
Protect forests
Conservation of rivers and wetlands
Protection of highly predatory species
