As part of the overall strategy of the Organization and in accordance with the decisions of its governing bodies, the Multisectoral Regional Office for Central Africa is mandated to ensure the implementation of the regional strategic directions while meeting the needs countries in UNESCO's different fields of competence. The new architecture of the field office in Africa also aims to foster synergies with the regional economic communities.
The mandate of the UNESCO Office in Yaoundé covers the following countries: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Central African Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and Principe and Chad.
