TA-6548 MLD: Greater Male Waste-to-Energy Project - Financial Expert (51077-003)

Objectives: The Greater Male Waste-to-Energy Project is supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Japan Fund of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JFJCM), aimed at establishing a sustainable regional solid waste management system in the Greater Malé region. The project will achieve this by developing treatment, recycling, and disposal infrastructure using waste-to-energy technology, strengthening institutional capacities for sustainable solid waste services delivery, and enhancing public awareness on waste-to-energy and the reduce-reuse-recycle approach. The project involves a 500 tons per day waste-to-energy plant with 15 years of operation and maintenance.
