The National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) and the National Accreditation Board (NAB) have been merged under the new Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023) to form the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. 

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) as part of its measures to assure quality in tertiary education has undertaken a review of the programmes and operations of Central University (CU) to ascertain if they are in line with required standards.
