About
Vietnam International Education Development (VIED) was established under Decision No. 2059/QĐ-BGDĐT on April 14th 2008 by the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training on the transformation of the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training under the organizational structure stipulated in Decree No. 32/2008/NĐ-CP on March 19th 2008 of the Government.
VIED has function in assisting the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training in state management and implementation of public services in the field of training with foreign countries. The main task of VIED is to manage and implement the scholarship programs of the Vietnam Government, and the foreign governments and organizations; to manage Vietnamese citizens studying and teaching overseas, and foreigners studying and teaching in Vietnam; to evaluate, authorize, manage cooperation programs with foreign links in the field of higher education; to research and develop teaching and learning Russian in Vietnam; and to implement the public services in the overseas training.
Since the establishment in 2008 so far, VIED has actively developed international cooperation, signed nearly 300 cooperation agreements in funding support in training with education organizations and overseas higher education institutions, and sent Vietnamese citizens to study in nearly 1,000 educational institutions in the world.
Currently, VIED has managed and allocated scholarships to more than 7,000 Vietnamese students studying in over 50 nations in the world, more than 4,000 foreign students studying in Vietnam, more than 100 education professionals are teaching in Africa, Asia and over 400 training programs linked with foreign countries in Vietnam.
The projects, scholarship programs used by Government Budget, which is managed and implemented by VIED, include:
The project of training technical science cadres abroad by the Government Budget (Project 322/356) from 2000 to 2014
The training project funded by Debt Dealing with the Russian Federation carried out since 2003.
The project of training lecturers qualified PhD for universities, colleges in the period of 2010 – 2020 (Project 911)
The project of training cadres overseas by the Government budget in the period of 2013 – 2020 (Project 599)
The project of development and application of biotechnology in agriculture, rural development and fisheries by 2020 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Project of pharmaceutical industry development till 2020 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Besides scholarship programs used entirely the government budget above, VIED is also responsible for hosting and participating in coordinating the implementation of scholarship programs of foreign governments for Vietnamese citizens including: Egypt, Ireland, United Kingdom, India, Poland, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Canada, Kuwait, Cuba, Germany, EU, the Netherlands, South Korea, USA, Hungary, Indonesia, Laos, Russia Federation, Malaysia, Mexico, Mozambique, Moldova, Mongolia, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, France, Philippines, Romania, Czech, Thailand, China, Ukraine, Singapore, Slovakia, Sri Lanka.
Every year, VIED receives more than 1,000 foreign students to study in Vietnam training facilities under the Agreement scholarships, CLMV scholarships, bilateral cooperation and self-finance, including countries: Angola, Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cuba, Kazakhstan, South Korea, North Korea, Hungary, Laos, Mongolia, Mozambique, Moldova, Russia Federation, Palestine, France, Romania, Czech, China, Ukraine, Sri Lanka,…
Vietnamese students studying abroad have created a good impression to the international friends, and really have become the ambassadors of Vietnam overseas. Many Vietnamese students have excellent learning outcomes, researches and obtained many awards.
