UPLB College of Economics (UPLB-CEM)

The College traces its roots to the establishment of the Department of Rural Economic (DRE) at the UP College of Agriculture in 1919. Thirty seven years later, in 1956, DRE was renamed the Department of Agricultural Economics (DAE). This was done to enhance the economic component of agricultural sciences. In 1978, DAE became the core of the newly established College of Economics and Management. Two departments were likewise established, the Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship and the Department of Economics. The college also now includes the Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprises Development (ICOPED). The process of establishing two additional centers is on-going; these are the Rural Economic Development and Renewable Energy Center (REDREC) and the Agribusiness Center for entrepreneurship (ACE).
