About

EARTH AFRICA RESOURCES LTD is registered as a limited liability company with its head office at DOME, Accra - Ghana. We are experts in groundwater exploitation and treatment. Our operations cut across the country and beyond in providing sustainable and quality water to individuals, institutions and communities in an effort to eradicate water-borne diseases and water shortages while ensuring good health and quality of life.
EARTH AFRICA was established in response to the growing need for quality water in areas where there is no access to portable water and also in areas where an alternative water source is required. Since its establishment, EARTH AFRICA has been striving to provide its customers with a reliable and sustainable quality of water for both domestic and industrial purposes.
Easy access to safe portable water is a basic human right; important for health and quality of life and this is what we stand for.
1.1 Practice
The chief hydrogeologist is supported by the hydrogeologist and field technicians. Company policies and direction are the responsibility of the hydrogeologist team.Inter-company liaison and our dedication to providing outstanding service and support ensure our Clients benefit from the principles of resolute hydrogeological management.
1.2 Services
The scope of the consultant service includes preliminary and in-depth site geophysical surveys, drilling and logging, hydro-fracturing and water treatment.
2.1 Relevant Project Experience The most
recent and successful
project in the Greater Accra region (KRANE CONTRIONS) is the following: Drilling and construction.
Drilling and construction, water mechanization in Amanfro in the central region (Sponsored by Massada Investments Accra)
More than No.100 individual boreholes in the Western, Central Regions
Geophysical water borehole siting of 150 boreholes in the Western and Central Region.
TECHNICAL PROPOSAL
3.1 Desktop Study
A thorough desktop study covering the vicinity of the project area and its immediate environments would be conducted to determine the current conditions of the site with reference to geological and hydro-geological conditions.
This will entail the acquisition and study of topographical maps, hydro-geological maps, local drainage patterns, climatic conditions, soil profiles and previous drilling reports. This will help in getting first hand information before moving to the site.
3.2 Reconnaissance Survey
A field reconnaissance survey would be performed to establish, confirm and update the information obtained from the desktop study. This would involve a visit to the project area and its immediate vicinities. The field reconnaissance survey would give first hand information about the current present conditions at the project area.
3.3 Geophysical Survey
A detailed geophysical survey would then be carried out after which a comprehensive analysis would be done to select suitable sites for drilling. This would involve the following:
vTerrain
evaluation
vTraverse
selection
vElectrical
Resistivity Profiling
vVertical
Electrical Sounding
vSite
Selection and Ranking
3.3.1 Terrain Evaluation
A terrain evaluation technique would be used to
select areas within the beneficiary community where the traverse lines would be cut for the detail geophysical survey. This will be done on the basis of the information obtained from both the desk study and the reconnaissance survey. During the terrain evaluation, such areas as refuse dump, cemetery, KVIP site etc would be avoided so that the traverse lines are not cut within those areas.
3.3.2 Traverse Selection
Traverse lines will be selected in areas suitable for groundwater exploitation and also suitable for the beneficiary community. These lines would be cut to intersect drainage lineage so that it would intersect the groundwater accumulation target.
3.3.3 Electrical Resistivity Profiling
A horizontal electrical profile would be performed at various point intervals of 5m or 10m to intersect two depths of horizons of 19.0m and 40.0m. This is to ensure that shallow aquifers are encountered and also to select points for vertical electrical sounding (VES). An ABEM SAS 300 Terrameter would be used by employing the Schlumberger method together with the Standard DRAG CABLE method.
3.3.4 Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES)
Vertical Electrical Sounding will be carried out on selected points from the profiling to investigate in detail the characteristics of the deep aquifers. This would be done to intersect depth horizons between 40-100m. An ABEM SAS 300 Terrameter would be used by applying the Dipole-Dipole resistivity method.
3.3.5 Site Selection and Ranking
Suitable sites from the vertical electrical sounding (VES) would be selected. A scientific interpretation would be carried out on all selected sites after which a qualitative ranking would be done for drilling. Interpreted sites would be ranked as prime and alternative sites for each community.
3.4 Drilling
Based on the geophysical results, the point will then be recommended for drilling. The drilling will be done with a drilling rig either air or mud, as the case may be.
3.5 Mechanization
A submersible pump which is electrically controlled will be installed into the borehole to draw the water into an overhead tank from which water can be accessed for use.
