About
Dominican monastery in Jablonné v Podještědí - Dominican monastery and cultural monument in Jablonné v Podještědí, Czech Republic. The monastery complex features the Church of St Lawrence and St Zdislava, with a dome reaching 34 meters in height above ground level. Founded in 1250, the monastery underwent major reconstruction in 1699 under Count František Antonín Berka of Dubá and received consecration in 1729. It contains an exposition of religious art, showcasing artifacts and artworks that represent Czech spiritual heritage through centuries. The monastery offers guided tours of the Museum of Sacral Art and Míla Doležalová Gallery, with special access to the catacombs during May pilgrimages. The remains of St Zdislava, canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1995, rest in the catacombs beneath the monastery complex.
