The production of durable surfaces in drinking water containers can not be compared with conventional concrete repair measures. It assumes knowledge, in particular, in the assessment of water / material compatibility, the mechanism of hydrolytic corrosion and the production of durable and hygienic surfaces under special ambient conditions.

Unsuitable materials and lack of expertise on these special requirements have given many repairs only a short lifetime of 10 to 15 years.

With the introduction of the technical rules DVGW worksheet W 300 and W 316 technical regulations are now available. With consistent implementation, durable surfaces with a useful life of 30 to 50 years can be produced.
