About

Law Centres defend the legal rights of people who cannot afford a lawyer. They are specialists in social welfare law working in their local communities to uphold justice and advance equality. Every year, Law Centres help over 250,000 people to save their homes, keep their jobs and protect their loved ones.

The Law Centres Network is the membership body representing Law Centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are the national voice of Law Centres and their clients, who are some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. We support our members to be sustainable and achieve their full potential. We also own the name 'Law Centre', which is a UK registered trade mark.

Law Centres Network is a trading name of the Law Centres Federation, a charity registered in England and Wales no. 1088588 and a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales no. 2433492.

Law Centres offer legal advice, casework and representation to individuals and groups. Spotting local trends and issues in the course of their work, they highlight them to bring about necessary policy changes and to prevent future problems. Law Centres also help build capacity within local communities by training and supporting local groups and educating people about the law and their rights.
