SAMAGRA - Samagra Jan Utthan Kendra

Samagra Jan-utthan Kendra (SAMAGRA) is an organization initiated by the intellectual and conscious youth group in Lahan in May 21 2002.To abolish the social discriminations from societies, it has focused its program on the communities who are excluded economically, and are affected from the so-called rituals and the different kinds of conflicts as well. It has been working for human rights, peace building and development sector since it’s the establishment.

After the establishment, it has worked in collaboration with Save the Children (US), regional office Lahan for raising awareness about the effect of dowry systems. From the starting period, its works has been Rights based. and has been active for human right protection, promotion, monitoring and documentation. In addition, it has been working for developing the capacity of human consciousness, institutional development and capacity development. For that, it has organized several trainings, workshops, interactions, orientations, and campaigns at district level to regional and national level.

To fulfill the need of the country and the community, it has been implementing a program for conflict transformation and peace building in the community level as well as in the district level. In this way, to handle and prepare the smooth environment in the district, it has been involved in the activities which help the local political leaders to make peace in the societies. Even in the period of Maoist’s Armed conflict, it had been active in monitoring Human Rights status and the international Humanitarian Law. It had played a vital role in the districts to make the struggling parties obey international humanitarian Law. In every, campaign, and struggle for the right of citizen, samagra has been active ever.
