Gulpinar Surdurulebilir Yasam Dernegi

Gülpınar Sustainable Living Association was founded in 2014 in Gülpınar Village, Ayvacık District of Çanakkale Province, with the efforts of a few volunteers. Its purpose: " To carry out studies that will ensure cultural, economic and social development along with the protection of the environment in order to create a sustainable life in Gülpınar and its region, and to support people and organizations working on this subject."

It continued its activities with a small number of members until 2017. In 2017, by standing side by side with village women who wanted to protect olive trees against a geothermal power plant (GPP) that wanted to start operating in Çakıllıtepe, near our village, it became better known to the public and rapidly increased its number of members.

After the GPP company left the village before it could start its operations due to the 33-day resistance and vigil of the women, it turned into an association mostly managed and owned by women. Today, it continues its work with increasing momentum to ensure that women and young people participate more in social life and empower them economically and culturally
