In 1994, three young brokers decided to take their destinies into their own hands and created an insurance broker with independence, employee-ownership and clients’ needs at front of mind.

Since then, we have grown into a multinational business, but remained true to the same approach that has won us long-standing clients, some of the best talent in the industry and a few awards for our cabinet.

There are two UK regulated businesses currently under the Howden brand; Howden Insurance Brokers Limited and Howden Reinsurance Brokers Limited. The businesses of A-Plan Insurance and Aston Lark are recent additions to Howden and underline our commitment to our home market.

Now, our combined UK businesses offer clients, from private individuals to global corporates, a complete spectrum of insurance products and services. The UK businesses now place over £6bn a year on behalf of more than 1.7 million clients, who are served by over 5,000 colleagues in 160 locations across the UK and Ireland.
