Natural Resource Defence Initiative (NRDI)

The Natural Resources Defence Initiatives (NRDI)  focuses on protecting and conserving the environment. It is located along Bundibugyo Road in Butebe, Kabarole District, South-Western Uganda. NRDI operates a community-based model, working through elected community leaders, local government structures, religious leaders and education institutions to implement sustainable environment conservation strategies. NRDI runs two flagship projects of construction and promotion of Ecosan toilets and protection of water resources through community forestry with funding from Protos, a Belgian NGO and the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment.
