About

Transparency International (TI) is the only global non-governmental organization dedicated to fighting corruption, bringing together civil society, the private sector and governments in a broad global coalition.

Through its chapters around the world and its International Secretariat, Transparency International addresses the different facets of corruption, both within countries and at the level of international economic, commercial and political relations. The purpose is to understand and confront the two faces of corruption: who corrupts and who allows himself to be corrupted.

Internationally, TI promotes awareness campaigns on the effects of corruption, promotes the adoption of political reforms, the establishment of international conventions on the matter; it encourages adherence to them and then observes the implementation of said agreements by governments, corporations and businesses. Likewise, at the national level, the chapters of Transparency International act for the sake of greater transparency and compliance with the principle of accountability. To this end, TI monitors the performance of some key institutions and lobby for the non-partisan adoption of necessary reforms.

TI does not denounce individual cases of corruption (which we understand is a fundamental task of journalists), but on the contrary directs its efforts to a perspective of sustainable achievements in the long term, prioritizing prevention and system reform.
