About

Project HOPE first started working in Colombia in 1995, when we helped establish a regional emergency medical system at the request of local government, health facilities, and university partners. The EMS was designed to support both daily emergencies and disaster situations, providing the populations of Cartagena and Bolivar with 24/7 emergency support. HOPE also implemented the AIDS Home Care project in an effort to provide patients diagnosed with AIDS in and around Bogotá with high quality, low-cost care at home.

Today, we are working to increase access to critical health services for Venezuelan migrants, refugees, and Colombian returnees. Our response is based out of the border city of Cúcuta, capital of Norte de Santander department, and aligns with the priorities of the Colombian government and UNHCR’s response plan for 2019.
