About

SKEY and Elonkehä jointly organized a writing competition on the theme of self-sufficiency and health. We selected two winners as these were both high quality and interesting texts.
The second deals with health in an unexpected way through the collaboration of microorganisms and the human body, and meaningfully questions somewhat the whole concept of self-sufficiency. The second addresses the potential health benefits of a more traditionally interpreted self-sufficiency life, and envisioned a bit of the potential to improve the organization of health care in our society.
The SKEY jury enjoyed reading the texts so that it still missed the continuation of this debate on the organization of health and self-sufficiency in society and the definition of self-sufficiency - is there a possibility of self-survival, i.e. is the term “own” wealth even misleading? And what is the role of community and communities in health thinking? And what is or could be the role of cities in self-sufficient life, now that self-sufficient life is often strongly associated with rural life in a small community?
As is the case with good texts, both texts provided a lot of interesting thought, and we would be happy to see them spark even more discussion on these important topics!
Congratulations to the winners - Oona Leinovirtanen and Hanna Keränen!
