About

The Nicolaas Witsen Foundation (NWF) is a not-for-profit organisation based in the Netherlands dedicated to the promotion of administrative reform in transitional countries. We act as a compass for our government partners, informing them of best practices in other countries, developing appropriate local solutions and supporting their implementation en route to better public management. The NWF was originally set up by the University of Amsterdam, and provides research and publications, policy and legal advice, capacity building and project management. We have a strong track record in public administration and civil service reform across Europe and Central Asia and are highly valued for our flexible approach, specialised expert network, practical solutions and engaging management style.
