Izmir University of Economics was established as 2 faculties, 5 colleges and 2 institutes with the Law No. 4633 published in the Official Gazette dated April 14, 2001 and numbered 24373. On July 1, 2001, it was moved to the current Balçova Campus with the support of the then Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Piriştina. Izmir University of Economics, which started its educational journey with 288 students and is the first foundation university of the Aegean Region, has become one of the most preferred universities in Turkey and has graduated 16,200 so far. A total of 464 academics, 59 of whom are foreigners, work at Izmir University of Economics, whose annual number of students reaches 10 thousand. Izmir University of Economics, which provides education in 35 undergraduate, 28 associate degree, 30 graduate and 6 doctorate programs, continues its development with firm steps.
