The history of François Couperin middle school and high school begins when the education committee pleads for the establishment of evening courses for young girls.

Before 1885, there were only private religious courses or home tutoring for the teaching of these  .

Fontainebleau does not want to be outdone and provides secondary education courses in the city's Election Hall (2 Place Centrale).
