About

The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in Fine Arts located in Chicago was founded in 1956 and calls for the creation and sharing of varied and controversial views about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. This aim is realized through project-based contributions to people and groups as well as the provision of exhibitions, events, and publications.

The foundation is known for the grants it provides of which there are two types, for production and presentation and for research and development with originality, the potential for value, feasibility, and capacity being the four criteria used to select grantees.

The Graham Foundation's objectives include assisting grantees to further their careers and facilitating initiatives that would not otherwise be achievable. Its main objectives are to create opportunities for students to design, implement and express a project concerning architecture and the built environment that will help them to grow creatively, intellectually, and professionally at pivotal or potentially turning points in their careers as well as to assist them in showcasing their work and reaching new and larger audiences.

The foundation also has a bookshop where grant-funded titles, multinational magazines, and rare publications on architecture, urbanization, and allied subjects are housed in the Madlener home. The foundation seeks initiatives that consider the current scenario, enrich historical viewpoints or look ahead in respect of architecture and design.
