Objective:
The Icelandic eTwinning NSO will continue to build upon our work in the past years, while adding extra components to further strengthen the status of eTwinning in Iceland. The main priorities for the period 2023- 2026 are as follows: First and foremost is the mission of promoting eTwinning to Icelandic teachers and student-teachers, while providing assistance and inspiration to existing eTwinning teachers. eTwinning will continue to be presented as a direct route to collaborating with European colleagues. The Icelandic NSO will work with all stakeholders, whether ITE, relevant ministries, teacher’s union, as well as the schools themselves. The different target groups include current teaching staff, student-teachers, VET teachers and ECEC teachers. The introduction of ESEP put a hold on a number of the plans. Introducing new users to a non-functioning platform provided difficult. Now, the effort of the NSO will be focused on regaining strength for eTwinning. The number of users, projects and prizes are all down following the shift of the platform. Promotional activities will shift towards a more direct approach of targeting specific groups, such as language or STEM teachers. In this regards, active collaboration with the Icelandic teacher’s union is very important. Furthermore, targeted e-mailing have proven successful in raising attention of eTwinning as well as offering school visits. School visits, where the platform is introduced and assistance is provided with registering and using the platform, are a feasible way of attracting new teachers and schools to the platform. Work will be continued to integrate eTwinning into the national curriculum at all levels. A specific effort will also be placed on further intertwining Erasmus+ activities and eTwinning. A continued emphasis will be placed on all awards, which we have to rebuild following a drop from the ESEP platform shift. Altogether, the Icelandic NSO will have a multi-faceted approach to eTwinning.
