Client: Ministry of Public Works Reconstruction and Housing, Somalia

Environmental and Social Safeguards Expert (Supervision & DNP - 11 Man-Months)

Education: Qualified with a Master’s degree in Environment Impact Assessment, or Environmental Management, Engineering, Natural Science or related discipline with at least 10 years experience working on environmental management and impact assessment and social safeguard issue.

Experience:

·   Minimum of 5 years specific experience in environmental impact assessment, risk assessment and implementing mitigation measures regarding road projects, monitoring and supervising implementation of: ESMP (Environmental and Social Management (Plan), ESMP Checklist, LMP (Labour Management Plan), LMF (Labour Management Framework), experience in conducting social safeguards and impact assessments and analyses, community and stakeholder engagement, resettlement planning, overseeing environmental health and safety (EHS) issues under the project and ensuring compliance by the Contractor with all EHS Plans. He/She should have a good knowledge of Climate Risk Management, Disaster Risk Reduction and the global climate change agenda. He/she will have worked on at least two road construction projects.

·        A minimum of two years spent in Sub-Saharan Africa.
