Climate Resilient Agriculture is one of the 11 programmatic solutions selected for large scale deployment across GGGI country programs in the organization’s Strategy 2030.
GGGI, Better World, and its key partners will help enhance the resilience of rice and vegetable value chains, increasing their productivity and reinforcing Senegal’s food autonomy and security through the implementation of the first multi-million Climate-Smart Agriculture & Sustainable Value Chains Project in West Africa funded by the Republic of Korea (ROK) Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA).

POSITION SUMMARY
The Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Project Assistant will work under the supervision of the Project Manager (PM), providing operational support for the PM to oversee the coordination, monitoring, and the implementation of the Project.
The position requires fluency in English and French.
PURPOSE
Contribute to the sustainable management and maintenance of greenhouses and solar-powered irrigation systems until the CSA facilities are officially handed over to SAED (Société d'Aménagement et d ‘Exploitation des Terres du Delta).
Provide support in developing business models for smallholder farmers' use of irrigation and greenhouse equipment for targeted crops.
Contribute to the detailed project work plans in line with the budget and under the guidance and supervision of the Project Manager to ensure successful implementation of the project in accordance with relevant national and international technical standards.
Assist in organizing training programs, workshops, capacity-building activities related to climate-smart agriculture.
ENGAGEMENT
Assist in engaging with universities, research and development institutions, and relevant partners identified in the Project documentation.
Regularly updates and consults with the PM to support effective project delivery.
Maintain an efficient and complete filing system, database, and documentation related to activities, maintenance, monitoring, and procurement tasks, as well as preparation and filing of minutes of meetings.
DELIVERY
Assist in organizing program activities including trainings, workshops, communication and knowledge sharing events, and support in the facilitation of these activities based on yearly/ biannual work programs and budget plans.
Support the generation of evidence-based knowledge and information on CSA and rural development
Ensure GGGI's core values are applied to all deliveries and outputs.
Provide operational and administrative support to ensure project delivery and management.
Contribute to the development of general and country-specific content on Climate-Smart Agriculture requested by Country Representative.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree, in management, administration, finance, economics, climate change, environment, project management or a related field,
Preferred 1-2 years of relevant work experience preferably in agriculture sector and /or engagement with government institutions, NGOs, private sector and / or development agencies on similar assignments
Knowledge of climate change issues and challenges, particularly on agricultural productivity
Experience working in rural areas with multiple stakeholders at various levels, including governmental institutions, NGOs, would be desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English and French
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and SharePoint, along with familiarity with online tools such as Zoom.

Maintain accurate project information and records, including meeting minutes and action points.
Project delivery and keeping track of plans, timelines and milestones.
Quality assurance and ensuring that project activities are implemented to a high standard.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Project Assistant is an X4 grade level in GGGI’s National salary scale. The annual base salary for X4 National grade level starts from USD 16,892. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background and internal equity.
This is a national position and does not include relocation benefits.
GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
