Kongwa District Council is one of the seven (7) districts of Dodoma region, it was established in 1996 under the Local Government Act of 1982 article no. 8 and No. 9. The natives of this District are Wagogo, Wakaguru, and Warangi. There are also other tribes that migrated from different parts of Tanzania such as the Bena, the Wanguu, the Kamba and the Masai who came for agricultural and livestock activities.
The main economic activities carried out by the residents of Kongwa District are animal husbandry (cows, goats, sheep, and donkeys). Donkeys are mostly used to transport crops. Also the activities of cultivation of food and commercial crops such as corn, sorghum, sorghum, peanuts and sunflowers.
