Agriculture Research in Balochistan was initiated during 1891 with Plant Protection and Horticulture. In early stages most of the work was on locust control, and on growing fruits and Vegetable. The other job on Plant Protection was Quarantine and fumigation of Plants, Fruits and Vegetables on the boarded of India Sub-Content when these materials were coming from Afghanistan.

DEPARTMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

• To obtain Maximum Output from the Existing Fleet of Bulldozers on Subsidized Rates, Within the Available Resources.
• Reclamation / Development of cultivable waste.
• Levelling of Agricultural Land.
• Construction of dykes / Sailaabee Bandat.
• To Harness the Runoff of Rainfall, thus Conserving Moisture for Utilization in Sailaabee(Flood) Cultivation.
• Construction of Micro Dams for the Storage of Flash-Water with a view to Maintain and Recharge the Aquifer to ensure Regular Availability of Irrigation Water through Neighboring Springs, Tube Wells, and Open Surface Wells.
• Provision of Agricultural Machinery to Farmers on Subsidized Rates for Harvesting and Threshing of Wheat and Paddy.
