Manipur Forest Department

The Forest Department, Manipur is the organization in the state dedicated to the development and improvement of Forests and Wildlife of Manipur. Forest Dept Manipur deals with variety of issues ranging from protection, plantation, enforcement of laws, ensuring people's participation in forest management, development of bamboo resources, protected areas management, recommending/ rejecting clearance of projects in forest areas, providing alternate livelihood opportunities to forest-dependent communities, regulation of extraction of timber, collection of revenue from forest-based products, fire control, research in forestry sector, raising and distribution of seedlings, awareness, observation and celebration of important events pertaining to Forests, soil moisture conservation activities, eco-tourism.
