Malaysia is located in the South-Eastern Asian peninsula, bordering Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam and the South China Sea. Classified as a middle-income country, Malaysia has transformed itself from a producer of raw materials into an emerging multi-sector economy. Exports of electronics are the significant driver of the country’s economy. Malaysia is a part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The country reports consistent trade surpluses, and its main exports are electrical and electronics products, palm oil, petroleum products, liquefied natural gas, timber and natural rubber. Its major export partners are Singapore, China, Japan, the United States, Thailand, Hong Kong, India and Australia.
