The National Administration of Public Education (ANEP), autonomous entity with legal status created by Law No. 15,739 of March 28, 1985, is the state agency responsible for planning, management and administration of the public education system at its initial education levels , primary, secondary, technical and tertiary education training throughout the Uruguayan territory.
It works in accordance with Articles 202 and following of the Constitution of the Republic and the General Law of Education, being in charge of the administration of state education and the control of private education at all the aforementioned levels and - as well as the University of the Republic, which is in charge of state university education - has the character of an autonomous entity.
