CABEI promotes rail transportation development in Central America

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) will finance the hiring of a rail transportation specialist to establish the scope of the Feasibility Study for the Pacific Train.

The analysis will provide a regional diagnosis of the railway sector in order to provide the inputs so that said project has the necessary characteristics to ensure its future interconnection with a railway initiative of regional scope.

Likewise, such diagnosis will be an input to support the initiative that CABEI seeks to promote for the establishment of technical design and construction specifications in Central America, which will regulate the development of freight and passenger rail transportation in the region.

CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi, pointed out that the Bank seeks to implement regional projects as ideal vehicles that aim to put an end to poverty and hunger; improve the health and well-being of inhabitants; achieve quality education; provide potable water and sanitation systems; and purvey economic and social infrastructure to its member countries.
