SAMEA is pleased to present the 2023 Capacity Building Workshops that will once again be presented virtually. We will deliver two workshop series in the months of August and October.
Objectives of the Capacity Building Workshops
Our workshops seek to support the following objectives:
- To offer annual online capacity building workshops to SAMEA members on SAMEA strategic plan’s thematic topics/portfolios. For example, to offer training workshops on Introduction to research for evaluation, Virtual Evaluation, Rapid Evaluation, and Just Transition.
- To enhance the knowledge, skills and capabilities of emerging evaluators, SAMEA members and the broader M&E profession.
- To provide a platform for networking between emerging evaluators and practitioners to share and learn from their professional experiences and best practices.
- To help participants to understand the implications of emerging local and international trends in the profession.
- To promote and embed the use of technology in line with M&E in a changing world.
Workshop theme and topics
- M&E to support a Just Transition to climate and ecosystems health
- M&E for continuous adaptive management, reflection and learning
- Made in Africa Evaluation
- MERLTech – data and technology
- Investing in impact
- M&E Capacity Building and Emerging Evaluators (EEs) including competencies and professionalisation.
The first workshop series will take place from 07-23 August with three workshops. These workshops will cover the following topics:
- Rapid Evaluation (RE)
- Just Transition (JT)
- Introduction to research for evaluation methodologies
The second workshop series will take place in the period 23-31 October and will be presented as one-day clinic style workshops for each of these topics:
- Just Transition (JT)
- Rapid Evaluation (RE)
- MERL Tech
- Investing in impact
- Virtual Evaluation (VE) guidelines
The second workshop series will focus on the application of what was learnt in workshop series 1, sharing these lessons and recommendations.
