Advocacy & Policy Influencing (API) and lobbying are part of virtually every change intervention in society. More than ever, itโs vital to become effective and sustainable in your policy intervention because policies affect the lives of all citizens.
When you choose this course, youโll be designing your own API plan. It includes three weeks of interactive online sessions and one week of face-to-face sessions in Ede โ the Netherlands. Your focus is on design of a strategic and successful API intervention, analysing your case in its API context, making strategic choices, and developing your own API plan. You will converse with other participants and facilitators regarding their experiences and policy contexts in the classroom, during breaks and in the evenings.
- Understand how to create a systematic strategy for lobbying and advocacy actions
- Analyse stakeholders and policy contexts
- Understand how you can influence policy development or implementation processes
- Gain insight into building strong coalitions, and select your political targets
- Use practical tools and methods to plan, prepare and implement advocacy initiatives
- Develop the API plan for your own case in its policy context
