Port System Authority of the Central Northern Tyrrhenian Sea (Italy)

Port System Authority is a body with legal personality under public law and administrative autonomy. It has financial, budgetary and administrative functions.

The Port System Authority of the central-northern Tyrrhenian Sea is the governing body of the port territory. According to the Legislative Decree n. 169 - Reorganization, rationalization and simplification of the regulations concerning the Port Authorities referred to in the law of 28 January 1994, n. 84, in implementation of article 8, paragraph 1, letter f), of law no. 124. (16G00182), the System Authority of the central-northern Tyrrhenian Sea, within whose territorial district the ports of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino and Gaeta are now included, has the following functions:

a) direction, planning, coordination, promotion and control of port operations referred to in Article 16, paragraph 1, and of other commercial and industrial activities carried out in ports, with regulatory and ordinance powers, also with reference to security with respect to risks of accidents connected to these activities and to the conditions of hygiene in the workplace;

b) ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the common parts in the port area, including that for the maintenance of the seabed, subject to an agreement with the Ministry of Public Works which provides for the use of the funds available for this purpose on the estimate of the same administration;

c) assignment and control of activities aimed at providing for consideration to port users of services of general interest, not coinciding with or strictly connected to port operations referred to in Article 16, paragraph 1, identified by decree of the Minister of Transport and Navigation , to be issued within thirty days from the date of entry into force of this law;

d) coordination of the administrative activities carried out by public bodies and organizations within the ports and in the maritime state-owned areas included in the territorial district;

e) exclusive administration of the areas and assets of the maritime state property included in its own district;

f) promotion of forms of connection with the retro port and interport logistics systems.
