The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, being consistent with the Government mandate, has developed a system to manage services. This model allows citizens to process applications relating to permits and environmental licensing for works or activities which have an impact on the natural resources of the Dominican Republic. This institution covers services including managing protected areas and biodiversity, marine and coastal plans, quality management for the natural environment, forestry and management of the terrain and waters.
The Department of Forest Management, working under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, has the responsibility to ensure the faithful implementation of the regulations governing the different forestry activities carried out in forested areas under the regime of management plans. The Vice Ministry of Forest Resources also operates under the MInistry and its responsible for promoting reforestation and manages the management of forest resources in the Dominican Republic.
